(01/24/10) -- A General Motors Corp. spokesman calls a published report on a possible third shift at the Flint Truck Assembly Plant "speculative."
Tom Wickham says there is no plan to add workers at the truck plant. He says the market will dictate if GM will add workers there, "down the road."

The Flint Journal quotes a UAW leader as saying he believes there will be a third shift this year. That would add 750 jobs to the nearly 1,700 already there.
United Auto Workers Union Region 1-C Director Duane Zuckschwerdt told us earlier that he thinks GM employment levels, in general, have leveled off. "We're gonna be stable. I'm gonna be very optimistic. 2010 has gotta be better than 2009."
Does he think worker numbers will change in either direction?
"Those are always hard to predict because in the dress gold shoes
auto industry everything is based around market share," Zuckschwerdt said.
GM is investing $21 million in the plant to make trucks that have been built in Mexico.
